Walking, picnicking and blackberry picking on the coast path between Mousehole and Lamorna Cove

I love going for walks along the Cornish coast near where I live and the walk between Mousehole and Lamorna Cove is particularly beautiful. The ever changing colours of the sea are part of what makes it so special, that and the fact it’s where my husband proposed to me! I find the colours a constant source of inspiration and they tend to find their way into my work – from the turquoise blue of a summer’s day, to the slate grey hues on a blustery winter’s day when you need to get wrapped up really warm.

It’s best to start at Mousehole, and head out of the tiny fishing village up the steep hill and winding streets to the coast path. On the way you’ll walk through a really beautiful nature reserve called Kemyel Crease. In late summer and early autumn, the walk offers some fantastic blackberry picking opportunities, perfect for rewarding yourself with a freshly baked crumble on your return home! It takes about a couple of hours to get to Lamorna, and if you time it right you can head straight to the lovely café for a delicious lunch or afternoon cream tea.
